Our mission
break the cycle of human trafficking through Partnership, prevention and support resources
Believe it or not human trafficking (HT) is happening in Sheboygan County...actually every county in Wisconsin.
Human trafficking is a modern-day form of slavery where traffickers exploit vulnerable victims through force, fraud, and coercion. We have an amazing community, and we know with your partnership, we can provide prevention and support resources to combat this issue and work towards ending human trafficking.
Freedom Cry assists human trafficking survivors on their journey of healing.
- Restoration Bags - We provide survivors with restoration bags containing new clothing, toiletries, and comfort items. Bags are distributed to survivors so they do not need to return to their trafficker for personal items.
- Survivor Support Team - Our trauma-sensitive advocates are credentialed crisis care chaplains who are committed to connecting survivors of human trafficking to trauma-recovery services. This includes, but is not limited to: referring survivors to mental health professionals, providing information about safe homes and transitional living programs, and offering peer-support throughout their healing journey.
- Compassionate Coaching - Our trained survivor support team members provide a safe and compassionate space for survivors to talk about their experiences in a confidential and non-judgmental way. These individualized experiences foster human connection, hope, and resiliency.
- Safe Home Vision - Freedom Cry has a long-term vision to fund a trauma informed, therapeutic Safe Home where survivors of human trafficking can find respite from a lifestyle of exploitation and connect with trauma-recovery services that foster long-term emotional, psychological, spiritual, and physical healing. We want to see survivors empowered with respect and restored to human dignity.
- Victim Witnesses - At the request of our local Victim Witness Office Freedom Cry has provided a care package and a lunch to the Victim Witness Office for survivors of human trafficking who testify against their trafficker. In cooperation with the Court Freedom Cry has also encouraged concerned citizens to attend the public trials of traffickers in order to show they are standing in solidarity with victims and the justice due to them.
Freedom Cry helps prevent human trafficking in our community.
- Community Awareness - We participate in and host a variety of events annually that are family-friendly, foster an informed conversation about human trafficking, and distributes educational materials and helpful resources to the public. Public awareness about the indicators of human trafficking reduces vulnerability by empowering community members to prevent human trafficking through situational awareness.
- Presentations - Our speaker's bureau provides presentations about human trafficking. Public presentations provide awareness, fact-based education, and encourage prevention. Your place of business, house of worship, school, community group, or club can invite us to share important information that will leave an impact on young and mature audiences alike.
- Business Outreach - We distribute educational materials to our local businesses about the indicators of human trafficking and how to effectively report suspicious activity to the authorities. Upon request, we are available to train business owners and employees about the impact of human trafficking and how to recognize human trafficking indicators.
- Hope's Hearts - We facilitate Hope's Hearts workshops as a community art project. The project was created to bring hope, encouragement, and to distribute helpful crisis resources into the community to prevent human trafficking. Our workshops have been in school classrooms, used as a service project for corporate volunteers, and are part of our Art in the Park outreach during community events. We encourage groups to request a workshop or for individuals to request a Project Box to complete at home and return for public display.
- Billboard Displays - In an effort to keep the prevention and awareness momentum going while providing an anti-trafficking resource to the community at-large, we have worked in partnership with our donors and the local chapter of the Knights of Columbus to fund billboards throughout our community.
- Safety Team - Our Safety Team monitors the activity of a location in order to report suspicious activity.
